Holle’s official stance on their A2 Organic Cow Milk Formula emphasizes a return to the "original" form of dairy. According to Holle, A2 milk is the ancient variety of cow’s milk, which originally only contained the A2 beta-casein protein—the same primary protein found in human breast milk.
Holle describes their A2 line as a breakthrough for sensitive infants. Most commercial cow’s milk today contains a mixture of A1 and A2 proteins. When A1 milk is digested, it can release a peptide called BCM-7, which has been linked to gut inflammation and digestive discomfort. By sourcing milk exclusively from specially selected cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein it creates a formula that reduces the risk of gas, bloating, colic and forms a softer structure in the stomach for gentler absorption.
